Role Overview
The ICU Nurse (Rehabilitation Unit) is responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to patients transitioning from critical care to rehabilitation. The role involves continuous monitoring, clinical interventions, and active participation in recovery-focused treatment plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor vital signs and neurological status of post-ICU patients
- Manage medical equipment such as ventilators, tracheostomy tubes, and infusion pumps
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and enteral/parenteral nutrition
- Perform wound care, suctioning, catheter care, and infection control procedures
- Assist in early mobilization and rehabilitation activities in coordination with physiotherapy teams
- Recognize and respond to clinical deterioration or emergencies
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
- Educate patients and caregivers on treatment plans and recovery expectations
- Ensure compliance with hospital protocols and safety standards
Required Qualifications
- B.Sc Nursing or GNM from a recognized institution
- Valid nursing registration
- Minimum 1–3 years of ICU or critical care experience
- Certification in BLS (Basic Life Support)
Preferred Qualifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
- Experience in step-down ICU or rehabilitation units
- Exposure to multidisciplinary rehabilitation care
